Shelley Tweedy


I always wanted to be an accountant having enjoyed it as a subject at school, and so I wrote to all the firms in the Yellow Pages and was offered several interviews.

However, at the age of 21 after three years doing a lot of filing and PAYE reconciliations I decided it was worth getting a degree. I then returned to the same accounting firm I’d worked at before going to University and focused on tax. Another 2 years on from there, I packed my bags for the iconic Kiwi OE where I had a ball, before landing back home at Fonterra Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd, formerly known as Anchor. I gained further experience in an engineering company until private practice beckoned giving me a chance to continue with general accounting work.

Time met Opportunity in 2008 to buy an existing practice which is where I have focused my time and attention for more than a decade, growing the practice to where it is today.

I am married with an adult son and love to travel, wine and dine!

Kirsty Johnson


I’m passionate about business and inspired by a challenge!

Hailing from the winterless North, I moved to the Waikato to study and have (almost) never looked back. I have been based in Cambridge for over a decade and my husband and I are now raising our two children in this beautiful town.

With my early career based in CA firms, I went on to work in a commercial setting in the agri-business sector, firstly as an accountant within a business and then working up to management and board positions. With that I gained first-hand experience of what it’s like to run a business. From cashflow to profitability, staff and time pressures, I understand the challenges that people in business face every day.

What brought me back to CA was a desire to help businesses without access to an in-house accountant. Having played a major part in bringing a business back to profitability, I know how much impact simple changes can make. And as accountants, we view the world with a different lens, one that I know can benefit the wider business community.

While I’m naturally focused on the detail, I am driven by the bigger picture. I am on a mission to help business owners solve their problems and to find ways to develop and grow their businesses.

Louise Manuatu

Chartered Accountant

I have over 30 years’ experience in accounting, mostly in various manufacturing industries.  My career begun in a Chartered Accountant firm, working there for a year before going to University to obtain my degree.  Once my degree was completed, I returned to the same accounting firm in Gisborne that I had worked for before going to University.  I then transferred to the Hamilton branch where I gained experience in Auditing, Tax Consulting and specialised Projects.

Upon getting married I moved to Auckland with my husband, where I spent 14 years working as the company accountant for a printing company.  My experience also includes being an accountant for a plastic injection moulding company, working with schools, importer of Italian adhesives, sealants and chemical products for building, exporter of live crayfish and a coffee roaster and vendor of coffee machines.

Now that my four children are fully grown, the move back to a more sedate life has begun.  The opportunity arose for me to come and work for Shelley Tweedy & Associates and I am looking forward to new challenges.  At this stage I will continue to work remotely from Auckland and travel down to the Cambridge office once a week.

Tania Brockelsby

Assistant Accountant

I’m a born and bred Waikato girl, growing up on a Dairy Farm near Matamata. The farm has been in our family for over 100 years.

After studying business and computing in Dunedin, I found I quite enjoyed it and spent the next three years studying towards my Diploma in Business. Once qualified I went on to work at an accounting firm in Dunedin and then one in Putaruru. 

After my first big overseas trip at 22, I got the travel bug!  I've since had three big overseas trips, travelling to more than 30 countries. The most random place I’ve travelled to is Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’m already planning my next trip away…

In 2018 I decided to try my hand in the Travel industry as a sales consultant, however it turns out that my passion was for actually travelling, not selling travel to others and so in June 2020 I made the move back to the accounting industry with Shelley Tweedy & Associates. 

My role is to provide support to the qualified accountants in the business. If you need training with your accounting software, I’m your gal.

I love everything cars and in 2019, I was lucky enough to travel to Australia to watch Bathurst. Most weekends you can find me somewhere around the country at speedway.

I grew up in Hamilton East but now live in Chedworth close to Chartwell Shopping Centre - I’m still not sure if it’s a good thing or not, I’m sure my husband Murray thinks not!

I am a family oriented person who also loves to socialise with friends.  Murray and I are just getting our freedom back, with our eldest working full time and our youngest overseas on her very first travel adventure!

I’ve found my true passion in administration and I seem to keep coming back to Accounting – there must be something about it!  I love to help people and I also love to find out the “why”, so it’s a great mix!

Shelley’s office is an amazing place to work, great people and great support - an environment where we are so well looked after, have lots of laughs but still get the work done.

Denise Hare

Administrator & Office Support

I have been working at Shelley Tweedy & Associates since late 2018.

Having lived in Cambridge for many years with my now three grown up children, I enjoy the lifestyle and all that a small town has to offer and I have developed many long-standing friendships with some of the locals.

A love for adventure has seen me achieve a long time goal of walking the Tongariro with friends.  Going on walks continues to be a favourite pastime plus catching the odd fish or two!

My background has predominantly been administrative and front-line roles which absolutely suits my “people’s person” nature. Being the first port of call when clients phone or pop into the office, you can always be assured of a warm welcome.
